When is the next Kirrawee Gang Show?

Our next show will take the stage in July 2026. Rehearsals start in February 2026.

Kirrawee Gang Show is held every 2 years. Traditionally this meant we had shows in the July of every odd year, 2019, 2017 etc. However, Covid threw the cycle out and our last show was in July 2024.

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

We will open Expressions of Interest for the 2026 season, towards the end of 2025. Stayed connected on our social pages to be the first to hear about our upcoming season.

Who Can Join?

Auditions are not required to join the cast at KGS. We welcome all abilities and will find a way for you to shine on stage!

To be a member of the KGS cast, you must be a member of the Scouting or Guiding movement and you must be aged over 10 year old at show time. Given that our next show is July 2026, this would mean you need to be born in or before July 2016.

The reason for this age limit is because rehearsals, camps and show week can be a long process and require dedication and commitment that might not suit our younger scouts and guides. They are however welcome to join us in the audience and we look forward to welcoming them on stage in future years.

What about my other Scouting / Guiding activities?

Kirrawee Gang Show only perform every 2 years. We recognise that Scouting and Guiding offer many amazing opportunities and this two year cycle allows cast and production team to spend non-show years focusing on other pursuits.

Rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoons which allows many to participate in camps on Friday and Saturday nights as well as Saturday and Sunday morning activities before attending rehearsals. Allowances are made in the schedule for pre-planned region level (and above) events, such as Region camp and Dragon Skin.

What commitment is required?

We begin the season with a launch party in November. This is a fun afternoon where you bring your friends, meet the key people behind the show, hear about what is involved and (hopefully) sign up.

We commence rehearsals in February of show year. Rehearsals are a Sunday afternoon at Bangor Scout and Guide Hall from approx 1pm-5.30pm. You may not be required for all those rehearsal times, or you may be required to start earlier or finish later. Rehearsals on the final weekends before the show may be held at the venue if available.

We have two camps during the rehearsal season, held at Heathcote Scout Camp. Attendance is required at camps as this is when we get a huge portion of the show finalised, plus we have lots of fun and games planned.

The first weekend of the July school holidays is normally given over to tech, and dress rehearsals in the venue. We perform over the first week and middle weekend of the July School Holidays.

We ask all cast members to assist in advertising the show among their friends as well as their Scout or Guide units and request that all cast participate in any fundraising planned.

There is a cost for participating in Kirrawee Gang Show. The cost for the 2024 show was roughly $220. This fee includes both camps, show t-shirt, scarf (new members) and access to costume supplies. You may be able to purchase additional merchandise for each show, in 2024 this was a jumper that is still proudly worn by members at Scouting and Guiding events. Additionally, you will be asked to supply basic costuming (shoes, socks, underwear etc) as well as makeup and hair supplies for the show.

How much fun is it?

The commitment might seem like a bit of work, and it is. But there is SO MUCH fun in among all the work. At Gang Show you will make friends for life while bringing an amazing show to the stage.

Rehearsals feature games, songs, time to chat and laugh, as well as to learn your songs, dances and routines. All cast members are part of a patrol, which is led by a patrol leader. Patrols work together as a team to plan themed rehearsals, support each other, sell tickets and have fun.

After each show the cast gathers on stage to discuss to show and awards are given for best smile, best performance of the night, biggest flub and more. Don’t forget that we have a pizza party and a muck-up show between the matinee and the final show. Then following the final curtain the entire cast has a party with a mountain of snacks as we celebrate a job well done.
